Types of data
There are three main types of data,. these are categorical, quantitative discrete and qualitative discrete.
Categorical Data
Categorical data is grouped by category
e.g types of phone, eye colour and pets people have. A column graph, divided bar or sector graph is a good way of represent categorical data. |
Quantitative Discrete Data
Quantitative Discrete Data can be counted.
e.g. number of screens at home or number of siblings. A bar or column graph is the most appropriate for this type of data. |
Quantitative Continuous Data
Qualitative discrete data can be measured e.g height, weight, time taken.
A pie graph is the most suited to this type of data. This data often needs to be grouped in order to graph it. |
